Book review: ‘Success Through Manipulation’ by Colin Christopher
“Your thinking is being manipulated right now, whether you know it or not. Manipulation is everywhere, and it is affecting you, no matter what level of success you currently enjoy.” So begins Colin Christopher’s“Success Through Manipulation: Subconscious Reactions That Will Make Or Break You” and it’s a very interesting journey into how the mind works.
Colin Christopher is a clinical hypnotherapist and entertainer. In this easy to read book he takes readers into the human psyche and how to positively manipulate thoughts to better their lives. It’s basically a book of “Laws” with each chapter describing each law including background information, an example, a discussion and a way to put it into action.
The first thing readers learn is the difference between conventional and unconventional thinkers. Conventional thinkers “generally spend the majority of their time performing the same habitual behaviours.” Unconventional thinkers “…..spend their time gaining new experiences through physical, mental, emotional and/or spiritual personal development.”
This is important because as he explains in Chapter 3 – The Law of Brain Waves, when people are in states of lowered brain activity this makes them more susceptible and programmable (like when they’re watching television). Since the conscious mind is the gatekeeper of the subconscious mind (The Law of the Gatekeeper) anytime it is impaired, distracted or unconscious the gatekeeper is useless and that’s when the subconscious can be programmed.
What he’s trying to get across to people is the importance of positive thinking. It is an eye-opening explanation of the mind’s power to affect everyday life. When people put out positive energy/thoughts that’s what they’ll get in return. He gives detailed examples on how anyone can use this to do things like lose weight, quit smoking and deal with fears. It his highly recommended for anyone out to make positive changes in their lives.
